If you’re an avid Instagram user and follow lots of pro-cros (that’s professional crocheters…) then you may have stumbled across the exciting project #365daysofcrochetflowers. Started by the lovely @theloopystitch, the project started out as a pretty free flower pattern released each day in 2018 by one lady – a big undertaking…! After a couple of months, the project needed to develop to keep going, and so other crocheters were invited to join in.

I loved the idea of the project from the start and have whipped up most of the flowers from the fab free patterns. I could not resist the challenge to design one of my very own to be released as part of the project. So my pretty flower came to be!

Below you can find the pattern for the flower. I used 3 colours of Stylecraft Special DK, but you can use less, or more as the mood takes you. The flower is worked in 3 rounds using a 2mm hook. The pattern is written in US terms as this was what the project asked for.

Here’s the pattern – enjoy!

Round 1 – Using colour A, make a magic ring, ch2, 11 dc, jss to ch2. Do not fasten off. (12 dc) 

Round 2 – Colour A – Ch4 (counts as dc and ch2), dc in same st, ch4 *sk dc, dc into next st, ch2, dc into same st, ch4. Repeat from * around. Jss into 2nd ch of initial ch4. Fasten off & weave in ends. (12 dc, 6 ch2 spaces, 6 ch4 spaces) 

Round 3 – Using colour B, make a slip knot, do not attach to hook. Insert hook from front to back between any two dc from round 1. Pull slip knot loop through & complete as for a slip stitch. Slip stitch around between dcs. After last stitch, cut yarn behind, pull through to front & use needle to thread back through and secure. Fasten off & weave in ends. (12 sl st) 

Round 4 – Colour B – Join in any ch2 space with standing sc. 2 sc in same ch2 space. *In ch4 space, [sc, hdc, dc, tr, ch2, tr, dc, hdc, sc], 3sc in next ch2 space. Repeat from * around. jss to first sc, fasten off & weave in ends. (30 sc, 12 hdc, 12 dc, 12 tr, 6 ch2 spaces) 

Round 5 – Join colour C in any ch2 space with standing sc. *ch4, fptr around dc from round 2, ch2, fptr around next dc form round 2, ch4, sc in ch2 space. Repeat from * around. Jss in first sc. Fasten off & weave in ends. (6 sc, 12 ch4 spaces, 12 fptr, 6 ch2 spaces)
